Freezone Training - Overview

If you decide to master the subject of Scientology in the FreeZone there are a few lessons that are a must. Know where you are going, start at the beginning, take it one step at a time. Scientology has been around for 50 years. Most haven't make it. A lot has been learned the hard way. Enthusiasm and IQ are telling assets, but patience and persistence are likely more valuable.

  1. The very first thing you need to do is get a Grade Chart. Every cycle of action begins with a goal or postulate. A Grade Chart is the basic ladder, bridge or road map of navigating through the subject of Scientology - on a step by step basis. Print, or send away for a copy, and tack it to the wall. Don't be intimidated by its' height or the number of levels presented. You are only interested in the Levels, (Classes and Grades), up through IV. You may be interested in more later, but 0-IV are a basic must. Church sales types will tell you that Training is 'just' as important as Auditing. "More" is the correct word. Auditing removes barriers to your acquisition of understanding - study is the direct acquisition of understanding. Another factor about Scientology training, that sets it apart from psychology, is that in psychology if you know too much about the procedure or gimmick that is being tried on you, it sort of blows the effect. In Scientology, the more you know about the auditing level before you ask the auditor to apply it to you - the faster and smoother it will go and the more you will get out of it. Get a Grade Chart, resolve to study each Training Level before you do the same level on the Auditing side of the Grade Chart.
  2. Second, you have to learn how to study - yes I know, you survived school... and now, your an expert at exactly what? If you have a doctorate I'll accept your answer, if not, there is a better way. Complete a Scientology 'how to study' course. It is a must for studying Scientology and once you get the hang of it, and learn the symptoms of how study can go wrong - it is pretty useful for studying just about anything. Plus, it employs some basic Scientology principles that you will be encountering later, and need to understand - so you might as well start at the beginning and do it right.

If you are planning to train in the Freezone, you have your work cut out for you. The most salient fact you need to grasp is that you are on your own. Plenty of people are willing to help, but you won't get much hand holding. No one will call 911 if you drop off the bridge. You have to really want it.

Generally, the steps for doing a course in the Freezone are:

  1. Look over the training side of the Scientology Bridge / Gradation Chart and decide on the appropriate course to take. If you have already selected a Freezone Auditor / Case Supervisor then you might want to ask for their advice.
  2. You might acquire the Course Pack and Check sheet from your local Church of Scientology Mission or find a used one. In an absolute sense all you really have to have is the checksheet. Many have found that the HCOBs are floating around the Internet and have downloaded them.
  3. You would then study the materials, applying the principles learned in the Student Hat course.
  4. You might then go to your Course Supervisor or Auditor for practical drilling, checkouts and obtain their certification that you understand and can apply the materials.

The first three steps can be done on your own or in consultation with one of the Freezone groups, (FZAOint or ICAUSE), Course Supervisors. Step 4, the final step, would have to be done in person, possibly dovetailed into a week or two of intensive auditing.

Currently the list of course rooms and course supervisors is a subset of the list of Independent Scientology Auditors. So select an auditor off the Auditor list and then talk over your training options with them.
