We'll have to take up a few points on this.
One is that
whether a needle phenomena appears as a tick or a small fall is
very much
affected by the meter one is using and the sensitivity setting.
For instance,
if a standard can squeeze is done with TA at 3.0 and the TA then
goes up to
5.0, reads will appear 20 times larger on a Quantum than on a Mk 7.
There was
also a totally unannouced change introduced with the Mk 7 which
increases
read size at high TA compared to a Mk 5.
At the moment my main concern
with metering is that correctly responding
meters are not available. From my
own tests the Quantum doesn't show some F/Ns
that appear on a Mk
5.
Current meters barely show a theta bop. There isn't a meter
available, except
for the C-meter, which will show a needle moving backwards
and forwards 10
times a second. I have tested this using electronically
created theta bops 1/4
div wide - they are invisible on normal
meters.
In F/Ning a list any change of characteristic is a read per C/S
series 87.
On some upper levels one expects very small reads as per NOTs
series 20 and
the auditor is trained to move the sensitivity up high to catch
reads.
